Your teeth

If we were told that we could keep our bodies fit and healthy by visiting the
gym twice a year, supported by just four minutes a day of exercise, we’d be over the moon. That’s all it takes to keep our teeth dentally fit and healthy. Just two dental visits a year, accompanied by two minutes’ brushing twice a day, could save us from the pain and misery that comes with toothache.

Unlike going to the gym, dental and hygiene examinations at Harbour Dental Care don’t make you sweat! They are not painful and many people actually find them thorough, pleasing and reassuring - and they prevent potentially painful problems from arising.

Restoring your smile

Regular dental and hygiene visits and an excellent oral hygiene regime at home will help us keep our teeth well into our twilight years. But the older we get, the more likely it is that we will have lost teeth. One way to replace a missing tooth or teeth, restore the mouth’s function or provide a secure anchor for dentures and bridges, is dental implants.

Dental implants look, feel and work like real teeth and:

  • allow you to smile, eat and chew with confidence
  • prevent that caved in look often seen with poorly fitting dentures
  • reduce wear and tear on the teeth near the gaps
  • are the most cost effective, long lasting solution out there

We offer a free consultation to see if you are viable for implants. We work with an experienced dentist with many years’ experienced of fitting dental implant roots, who will then return you to our care. Our principal dentist, Malcolm Harbour, will ensure the replacement tooth is beautiful and fits in seamlessly with your remaining teeth. Please call our friendly team to find out more about dental implants at Harbour Dental Care in Ipswich.

Specialist oral surgeon

Harbour Dental Care is pleased to offer the services of a visiting oral surgeon, Erica Rapaport, Erica is an experienced specialist who can carry out complex extractions and oral surgery for our registered patients and those who are referred here by their own private or NHS dentist. Waiting times are often shorter than for treatment in hospital and procedures usually take between 30 minutes to an hour. The private fee for oral surgery is £230.

What are dental implants?

An implant is an artificial root made from ultra-pure titanium that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It can be placed in either the upper or lower jaw and, in time, will bond with your jawbone to create a firm foundation to which a replacement false tooth is fixed.

When can teeth implants be used?

Tooth implants can be used for a wide range of treatment from one implant to replace one missing tooth, two implants to secure a loose denture, through to multiple implants to replace all the teeth in the mouth.

Can anyone have oral implants?

Yes, if you are over 18 and in reasonably good health. Our thorough assessment will determine whether dental implants are the right option for you.
